What is Positive Psychology? Things to Know About Coaching:

Positive psychology is the scientific study about what goes right in life and those things that make life more fulfilling. It is about optimal functioning and "the good life". Chris Peterson PhD, professor of psychology at the University of Michigan and one of the founders of positive psychology, also gives this three-word summary of positive psychology:  Other people matter.

Furthermore, Positive Psychology is the scientific study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive. This field is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play. (University of Pennsylvania)   I think it is important to note that Martin Seligman PhD, founder of Positive Psychology, was instrumental in starting the first Masters of Applied Positive Psychology Program in the world, at the University of Pennsylvania.
No matter how happy you are you can always be happier. Focusing on one’s strengths and utilizing them, developing positive emotions, bringing in more gratitude and balance are all part of what creates personal well-being and fulfillment.  This in no way says Positive Psychology ignores the bad or negative things in life. Positive reframing becomes very useful – looking at it in another way.

Positive Psychology is grounded in research. There are a great number of people involved in the field of Positive Psychology and I just want to express my sincere thanks for all their valuable contributions toward helping the greater good.
