Sheila's Bio
Sheila lives in Louisville, Kentucky, returning to the area of the country where she grew up. She has been married for decades and has two children. The backyard in her home is a slice of heaven. She said her husband would live there if he could. He is the gardener and laborer. It is crowned with a wonderful waterfall.
Sheila is a courageous woman. She has moved through different facets of her professional life, and has allowed herself to try different things. Her background includes undergraduate work in education, graduate work in psychometrics, and doctoral work in school psychology, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Sheila stayed in school psychology work until she burned out, always wishing there was a more positive side to working in psychology. She then went into commercial real estate, as a way to learn how to invest in property, always using her psychology background to help people. Being the only woman, at the time, she was told the way to success was to "think like a man and act like a lady". She became a "pioneer" woman in commercial real estate, reaching the top in the company and helping to break barriers for women in commercial real estate. After that, she started her own company to manage the investment property it acquired. All this time Sheila had been leaning toward and drawn toward positive psychology, determined to help people in a more positive way. At this point in her dynamic career, she has become very clear about wanting to work with people who want to move forward in their lives. This could be in their business life, professional life and/or in their personal life.
Sheila is happy and content in most areas of her life. She has a wonderful marriage, a great relationship with her family, community interests, loves the arts, is spiritual, has wonderful friends and loves her personal time.
Sheila's father, who died at 92, used to always say, “have PMA” (positive mental attitude). It seems to me she does. She signed up for her certification program, with Mentor Coach to pursue Positive Psychology, on Friday the 13th, her dad's favorite day and realized every time she wrote “PP”, her abbreviation for positive psychology, she was writing her dad’s initials. Nice synchronicity, don't you think?
